The Vow Beneath the Storm

For years our hearts have wandered one relentless road,
Through tempests of voices urging us to turn away.
Even the hands that raised us tremble at our choosing,
Certain our fragile flame will fade to gray
Yet in your eyes, Lily, I see a dawn they cannot know.

Still, I confess the quiet tremor in my soul:
The fear of walking where no blessing lights the way.
What if the world one day repeats its warnings,
Softly whispering “we told you so” in the gray?
Yet love within me sings a braver song each day.

For love was never born in gardens free of storms;
It learns its wings where doubt and thunder live.
Heavy at first, like flight that struggles toward the sky,
But once it rises, no gravity can forbid
For love grows fiercest where the odds resist.

So let the world speak; we have nothing left to prove.
When two hearts know themselves, no crowd can rule their flame.
Love is the ground where every sacred vow is rooted.
Walk beside me, Lily, trust the path we dare to claim
Though the whole world stands against us, my hand will never release yours.
